Water
East-West via Belfast Performance Festival, 2009
2 Hour performance
Conway walked the streets of inner-city Belfast barefoot, dressed in a business suit saturated wet wearing mirror sunglass. He had cupped water between the palms of his hands which he held for the duration of the two-hour performance.
He loved the contradiction in what appeared to look like a cross between a businessman come hitman, immersed in a gentle poetic action. He had several interactions with the public during the performance. Which involved them giving coins and blessing themselves from his cupped hands.
The work Water was selected by Platform for the East-West via Belfast Performance festival. It involved a selection of performance artists from both Ireland and Asia.
