Sounda

Daghdha Festival, Limerick City. 2006

20 minutes Duration

The work Sounda was a performative collaboration between Conway and the dancer Katarina Mojzisova. It was performed in Limerick City as a performative interactive dance sound work which was about 20 minutes long.

It involved a microphone with a long lead attached to Katarinas arm, the mic in turn was connected to a 100-watt tube amplifier. Conway put the amp into overdrive to encourage feedback this allowed Katarina to interact with it, drawing a rich variety of sonics. She played with movement while improvising with the amp to give the sounds a rich visual element, he in turn used a mixing board and effects to help control the feedback and add colour.

His interest was to create a lo-fi interactive work where two people could pull some magic from thin air, a fusion of sound and movement grounded in improvision.
