Matchstick
Infusion, Limerick City Hall. 2012
8 Hours Duration
The work Matchstick was selected for the performance festival Infusion in Limerick city 2012, the site was Limerick city hall.
Conway performed over eight-hours, he began the work from his hotel and walked to city hall dressed in a nave business suite. On getting there he constructed a matchstick architectural structure around one of his hands. On completion, he returned to his hotel walking with the structure around his hand, through the city.
The work was very much influenced by the persistent housing crisis Ireland found itself in, with no solution in site. Which was compounded by the governments lack of response to housing, which was left to an ineffective private sector.
