Fist
The Black Mariah, Triskele, Cork City. 2010
20 minutes Duration
Conway moulds clay around his hand, creating a second skin. The hand now immersed breaks free to later transcend into a bowl, going beyond its utilitarian purpose. Unexpectedly, he emits milk into the vessel from his mouth, adding a visceral layer to the narrative. This act, invites contemplation on the cyclical nature of life and art. The integration of body, clay, and milk creates a multisensory experience, challenging conventional artistic boundaries.
Ultimately, the performance is an exploration of the interconnectedness of creation, transformation, and nourishment allowing the convergence of clay, hands, and milk in trying to fulfil a physical poetic act.
